(Port) Wine of the month August 2021: QUINTA DO CRASTO - VINHA DO PONTE 1998

To taste the first ever produced iconic wine on the Quinta is always fascinating. The legendary spots Vinha do Ponte and Maria Teresa are bottled separately since 1998 and were only blended to create the Honore in 2015 to celebrate the 400th birthday of the Quinta. There is no other producer with constantly putting this quality in the bottle in the Douro Valley: A hint of brown in the almost opaque dark-red colour. A hint of tobacco and minty notes, loads of complex and matured red berry fruits. The palate offers an underlying sweetness, expressive cherry, raspberry and chocolate, fresh coffee and strawberry.
